Roads closed in Heathfield following two car crash

Two people are trapped following a two car crash in Heathfield, the fire service said.

Two fire appliances were called at 11.35am today (Sunday) to Newick Lane, Heathfield, an East Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesman said.

He added: “We’re dealing with two people who are trapped. Two cars involved.

“The police are on the scene and we’re closing roads locally.”

The spokesman urged drivers to avoid the area.

A Sussex Police spokesman confirmed they had a two car collision reported to them at 11.28am today, Sunday.

He said: “One vehicle ended up in a ditch and the driver sustained slight injuries, though I believe had to be freed by firefighters.

“Driver and passenger in the other vehicle unhurt.

“This happened near Newick Farm, blocking the road. Recovery on scene at 1.50pm.”
