FOOTBALL: The Bridge 2nd team travelled to Macron East Sussex Football League Division 5 runaway leaders Wittersham II last week and gave a very good performance. The first half saw the hosts pepper The Bridge goal but were kept at bay by some good saves from keeper Nick Townsend until the 41st minute when the hosts broke the deadlock and a minute later scored their second for the half time lead. Bridge manager Ian Austin’ half time team talk was full of praise for his team and told them to carry on the performance in the second period which they did until the 70th minute when Townsend failed to stop a shot that he should a saved, however we kept pressuring the home defence and got our reward a minute from time when Harry Birchall netted. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to Rock-a-Nore while the 2nd team are away to Cranbrook Town with both matches K.O. 2p.m.
