St Mary's Salehurst: start with Holy Communion at 9am in the Mission Room. 11am is Sung Eucharist at Salehuurst. The children's club will be taking place during the service and will be in the front vestry. This is for children of primary school age.

Last week saw the Spring Market and Plant Sale, this was a successful event and thanks go to those that provided plants, books, cakes and every thing else that made it a success.

On June 5th is the Thanksgiving Service for Rev. Christopher Channer, who will celebrate 50 years since he was ordained.

Bishop Nicholas Reade will officiate at the service and afterwards there will be an open-air lunch in the garden at Parsonage Farm. Everyone is welcome to attend the service, the more the merrier. If you would like to take part in the lunch please let one of the Churchwardens know to give an idea for numbers and catering. There will no charge for the hog roast and BBQ but donations towards the costs will be appreciated.

Thursday 18th August at 7.30pm will be a date not to forget in the church diary this year. Rev. Annette Hawkins will be licensed as Priest of St Mary’s from this date. The Bishop of Chichester will conduct the Induction Service and it will be a cause for celebration in the village after more than 18 months without a full time vicar. More details will follow nearer the time.

The George Inn: is holding its Gin Festival on Sunday 22nd May. There is to be a Master Class taking place between 3pm – 4.30pm. Please ring 880315 for availability as places are going fast. The class will cost £25.00 per head and James from the Gin Box will teach you all about this fabulous drink and get you making and drinking cocktails too. Lunch is being served in the George from midday until 7pm, so even if you cant get on the class you can still have a day out with Live Music from 5pm with the return of Mockingjay. So with a choice of meats from the grill, fish or vegetarian. The choice of 10 different gins behind the bar, paired with different Fever Tree tonics, and a range of garnish from rosemary, orange zest, dehydrated ginger to name but a few. Of course all the usual drinks will be available too. This sounds like a good place to while away a lazy Sunday.

Local Artist: Roger Hill who is from the village, finds success in new English Art Club at the Mall Galleries clubs annual open exhibition. His painting is one of only 18 chosen from 1300 entries that were submitted. This is open from 16th June – 25th June and is open daily from 10am – 5pm, but on final day it closes at 1pm. Admission is £3.00 with concessions £2.50. Well done Roger a great achievement.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society: still need donations of lots or pledges for the Annual Auction that is taking place on Friday 27th May at Robertsbridge Club. Please contact John Goldsmith on 880412 or Eric Vidler on 880135 or go on the Facebook page to donate. Also support on the evening is needed so please go along and see if you can pick up a bargain. All money goes to the great event in November.

Sunday June 12th is Soapbox Derby Day at Salehurst. This is to celebrate The Queens 90th birthday. Church Lane will be closed on the day from Coronation Cottages to the junction of Beech House Lane and Rocks Hill from 1pm – 6pm. Racing starts at 3pm. Entry forms are available from the Salehurst Halt or from Sandie at the Floral Boutique. Spaces will be limited so if you would like to enter please submit your form as soon as possible.

Robertsbridge Summer Event: is on Sunday 19th June on the Recreation Ground from 12.30pm. This years theme is a Royalty and Ragtime Picnic. The whole event is free with The Sussex St6ompers, The Dancing Day Trippers, games, BBQ teas, cakes, ice creams and loads more. An event `By the Village, for the Village`.

DARTS: Tonight is Final’s night at Robertsbridge Club 8p.m. Sunday 29th May is the next Open Pairs Darts Knockout at Robertsbridge Club with registration at 7.30p.m. Entry is just £1 for an evening of fun with cheap drinks in comfortable surroundings and you don’t even have to play darts to enjoy the fun so why not come along as this is the last one until August.

STOOLBALL: Our home Ladies match against Hooe was postponed due to the Clappers ground being waterlogged last Thursday. Sunday 22nd May is our Mixed Tournament at the Cricket Ground starting at 10.30a.m. The Mixed are away to Crowhurst on Tuesday 24th May while the Ladies are at home to Catsfield on the 26th May with both matches starting at 6.45p.m.
