Thursday 15th October: at 7pm is the Progressive Whist evening at Robertsbridge Hall. All are welcome.

Friday 16th October: again at Robertsbridge Hall is the Monthly Film Show with doors open at 7pm for a start of 7.30pm. The film this month is `Far from the Madding Crowd`.

On Saturday 10th October: at the Hall there will be a lively evening of poetry and music coming to the village with the appearance of the performers from `Little Machine`. Classic and obscure poems from Shakespeare and Blake to the modern day Poet Laureate Dame Carol Ann Duffy are given vibrant new voice by the trio Walter Wray, Steve Halliwell and Chris Hardy. St Mary’s Salehurst: are holding Holy Communion at the Mission Room in Fair Lane at 9am and then the Sung Eucharist at 11am at Salehurst.

There was a good turnout for the Harvest Supper held at Salehurst School last week. Thanks to all those that shopped, cooked and helped on the day, particularly Sue Anderson for her initial planning.

There is a new hopefully to be weekly event that is a joint venture between the Community Church and St Mary’s. It started last week and is to be held in `The Hub` (old post office) on a Tuesday afternoon. This is a Puzzling Afternoon held between 2pm – 4pm. You can try your hand at crosswords, jigsaws, word searches or any puzzles whilst enjoying tea and cake and meeting new people. It is hoped this will be a success so if you are free please pop along.

On Friday 16th October: there will be the Annual Quiz Night held at the Mission Room with proceeds being shared between St Mary’s and the British Legion. Entry is £7 and this is to include a Ploughman’s Supper.

Community Church: welcomes you to their Sunday Service at the Youth Centre at 10.30am this is every week and everyone is welcome to attend.

On Thursdays there is a coffee morning at `The Hub` in the High Street from 9.15am and on a Friday there is a Prayer meeting at 10am. There are Christian books, and cards for sale as well as crafts made by the Kenward Trust, which is a charity helping people with addiction.

Royal Talk: on Friday 23rd October at Robertsbridge Hall by the retired, Queens Equerry. The talk will be on Royal Jubilees from Queen Victoria until now. This is to be a popular evening with a brilliant speaker with the proceeds from the event going to St Mary’s Salehurst. Tickets are £7 and are available from The Floral Boutique and Belle Flowers and Judges Bakery. Or you can ring 880146.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society: is now picking up pace with organising this years event. The annual call is now out for street collectors on the night. All of the money collected on the night is donated back to the village clubs and associations from young to old. If you have been lucky enough to benefit from this over the years could you please find a member or two willing to give up sometime to help? If you just want to dress up and collect please contact Sandie at the Floral Boutique either on 880977 or by popping in to see her or by face book. The same goes for marshals. Each year we have to rely on the help from members of the society and members of the public, please help this year, as every pair of hands is needed to keep a safe event in our village.

The Bonfire Society will be running a coach to Hastings Bonfire Celebrations on October 17th, it is a booking system to get a seat with Bonfire members taking first choice, if there are seats left over members of the public may be able to get a seat. Please again contact Sandie for details.

Flu Clinics: are now upon us as winter is fast approaching. Some clinics have already taken place but there are clinics at Oldwood Surgery Robertsbridge on Wednesday 21st and 28th October between 2pm – 5pm, also on Monday 26th October between 3.10pm – 6pm. These are by appointment only so if you are eligible for a Flu Jab and want to go please ring the surgery on 880790 and book an appointment.

The Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire: was delivered to 1196 doors throughout the village, with a return of 67%. This will give a strong value to the emerging Plan, a wonderful effort by all involved.

FOOTBALL: The Bridge 1st team played at Rock-a-Nore last Saturday in the Premier Division of the Macron East Sussex Football League hoping for another victory but a poor 1st half performance found them 2-0 and it got worse as The Rocks scored soon after the break but 16 year old debutant JJ Boast came off the bench to score on 75 minutes and he was also given the man of the match award for his tireless effort. In Division 5 The Bridge 2nd team hosted lowly Icklesham Casuals II and got off to a flyer with goals from man of the match Colin Eade after 3 minutes and then Ben Thorpe netted 4 minutes later but the visitors keeper pulled off some good saves to keep the score down at the break. It took the Bridge just ten minutes into the second period to net again through full back Paul Rockett and then Eade completed his hattrick with goals on 65 and 67 minutes but the Casuals scored a goal against the run of play in the 70th minute and again the visiting keeper pulled off two excellent saves to deny the Bridge more goals but the final ten minutes saw goals from Tommy Moyce on 80 minutes and then Thorpe completed his hattrick with goals in the 84th and 88th minutes to complete an 8-1 victory. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to Hollington United while the 2nd team are at bottom placed Battle Baptists III with both matches K.O. 3p.m.

LADIES DARTS: A reminder that if any ladies fancy a game of darts for fun come along to Robertsbridge Club on Monday 26th October 2015 @ 8p.m. where you will find a friendly atmosphere and comfortable surroundings with the added bonus of free food for the players so come along and enjoy an evening at The Club.
