St Mary’s Salehurst: are holding the Harvest Thanksgiving Service this Sunday 4th October at the Church. This takes the form of Family Eucharist with harvest gifts brought to church and distributed after the service. This is a celebration of the good gifts, which are around us and an opportunity to give our thanks for them.

There was a fantastic turnout for the afternoon service at St Mary’s last week; this was the first of many we hope. Annabel and Richard Blackaby led the service and the entire Conway family and friends provided the musical accompaniment. It was truly and all age service with some lively worship and congregation participation. Lots of encouraging comments and time for fellowship over tea and cakes afterwards. The next one will be on October 25th.

Robertsbridge Hall: will be holding the Village Market tomorrow Saturday 3rd October between 10am – 12pm. Fresh local produce, home made cakes and pies, garden plants and handy crafts.

On Friday 16th October the film of the month is `Far from the Madding Crowd` which starts with doors open at 7pm ready for film to start at 7.30pm.

The dates have been altered to the 3rd Friday in the month so please keep an eye out for the November date.

Glottenham Manor: is holding its Bonfire Night on Sunday 8th November and is welcoming the village community to attend. The evening starts at 4.30pm with entertainment and you can buy a burger or a choice of homemade goods whilst waiting for the fireworks. There will be a Guy Competition and a prize for the winner. This will be followed by the bonfire and firework display. Entrance is free but if you would like to email Jemma to let her know you are going her email is [email protected]

Robertsbridge Arts Partnership: presents a lively night of poetry and music in the village on Saturday 10th October. The performers will be from Little Machine. Classic and obscure poems from Shakespeare and Blake to the modern Poet Laureate Dame Carol Ann Duffy are given vibrant new voice by the trio of Walter Wray, Steve Halliwell and Chris Hardy. This starts at 8pm at Robertsbridge Hall with tickets at £10 available from Judges Bakery or if you are a RAP member at only £8. Contact Jane Tritton on 880248 or [email protected]

FOOTBALL: The Bridge recorded their first points in the Macron East Sussex Football league Premier Division with a 2-0 win over local rivals Mountfield United. The Bridge were gifted their first goal on 35 minutes when a shot harmlessly went into the arms of Mountfield United’ keeper Andrew Augarde but for some reason he threw the ball into his own net to the amazement of everybody. Bridge striker Guy Ballard doubled the lead on 39 minutes in a dominating first half. The second period saw the visitors push for a goal but man of the match Ben Hardy stood firm with his defence to claim all three points. The 2nd team played at high flyers Magham Down in Division 5 and despite having the best of the early exchanges found themselves behind after 15 minutes when the home forward breezed past a static defence and the home striker repeated the fate again just 5 minutes later. A back pass to Bridge keeper Grant Lewis saw the ball bobble over his foot for the Magham right winger to score on 26 minutes however the Bridge pushed hard and eventually got their reward when a cross found the head of debutant Shaun Colvin whose header was touched in by Glen Bladon. The second half saw the Bridge push forward with man of the match young Josh Goodsell working hard in midfield but whatever we hit seem to find a home defender in the way as we lost our unbeaten record with a 3-1 defeat. Tomorrow the 1st team are away to Rock-a-Nore at Tilekiln while the 2nd team are at home to Icklesham Casuals II with both matches K.O. 3p.m.

LADIES DARTS: At the A.G.M. of the Burwash Ladies League their were only three teams represented and after discussion although it was agreed not to play on a league basis but to arrange dates and venue’s where any lady or ladies can come and play just for fun with the first date on Monday 26th October at Robertsbridge Club @ 8p.m. where there will food available.
