Many thanks also to all those that supported the Open Day on Sunday 9th August where a grand total of £607.00 profit was raised towards the upkeep of the museum and the many exhibits.

There are only 2 more Sundays this year to be able to go and see the museum and the dates are Sunday 27th September and Sunday 25th October and both days will be open between 2pm – 5pm.

Auction of Promises: at Vinehall School tomorrow evening Saturday 19th September. There may be a few tickets left for the evening event and if you are interested please ring Linda on 819438. There are some fantastic `promises` on offer and if you would like to put in an early bid you will find forms in local shops and pubs. All proceeds from this event will go to St Mary’s Church, Salehurst.

St Mary’s Church: will be holding Holy Communion at 9am in the Mission Room in Fair Lane. At 11am Matins in the church at Salehurst.

Thanks to all those that attended the Church breakfast last Saturday, and to Sean Martin who gave a talk about his work as a local funeral director. He was both light hearted and informative about his work, which can sometimes be a difficult subject. He was happy to answer questions at the end, and he also generously asked for the retiring collection to be put towards additional music for St Mary’s choir.

Tickets are now available for the Harvest Supper on Friday 2nd October. You can get them after morning service or from the Salehurst Halt or call 07984420074.

The Neighbour Hood Plan Questionnaire - has now been distributed around the village by the Street Champion volunteers. If you have not received one yet they are on their way. Please spend a few minutes filling in and returning the forms, as this is how you can have your say on development within our village. The deadline is 25th September.

The Village Diary: is still in the Floral Boutique. If you are organising an event in the village please pop in or ring Sandie on 880977 to see if there is anything else on the date to try and stop doubling up on events in the village. With Christmas around the corner there will probably be lots of events happening and everyone wants to maximise the profits for the work put in. Please just take a few minutes to check and everyone will benefit.

FOOTBALL: The Bridge 1st team hosted Battle Baptists in the Macron East Sussex Football League Premier Division last Saturday and ended up losing 1-0 despite having most of the play. Howard Atkinson had the first chance after 7 minutes but shot wide while at the other end kepper Grant Lewis made a good save ten minutes later. A free kick from man of the match Adam Hardy found Atkinson whose header went wide and then shots from Dominic Whittaker, Guy Ballard and Chris Phillips were all saved by the visiting keeper before the break. The second period started as the first with The Bridge having all the chances but failing to score while The Baptists punished the Bridge for their lack of hitting the target by opening the scoring on 79 minutes however if Hardy, Phil Green or Ballard had taken their chances we would have won easily and when substitute Matt Barnett was fouled in the box 2 minutes from the end the referee went to blow but then changed his mind and played on to the amazement of The Bridge but to be honest we should have sown the game up well before then. The Bridge 2nd team earned a point at F.C.Westridge in a game that they should have won. The first period was all The Bridge but failing to take their chances proved costly as the hosts took the lead when a cross from the right was deflected into his own net by Andy Barden for a half time lead. In the second half The Bridge pushed hard for the equaliser and that eventually came via man of the match Ben Thorpe taking his tally to 3 goals from two games as The Bridge came away with a point. Tomorrow the 1st team are away to Peche Hill Select at Tilekiln while the 2nd team are at home to Parkfield with both matches K.O. 3p.m.

STOOLBALL: The Ladies played the long awaited re-arranged Icklesham Tournament last Sunday in the rain and took on Icklesham Vixens first in a 4 over match in which Icklesham were put into bat and scored 47 thanks mainly to 33n.o. by Heidi. In reply Lisa Fifield[7] and Abigail Fifield[3] went cheaply but Sarah Clark[23n.o.], Clare Baker[1] and Charlie Apps[3n.o.] saw us finish on 47 to take a point. We batted first against Pett with an opening partnership of 25 between Clare[9] and Sarah[29] while Charlie[2] and Lou Taylor[2n.o.] saw us finish on 57. An opening partnership of 51 between Anya[21n.o.] and Erin[25] should have seen them home but excellent bowling and fielding saw Erin caught by Sarah from Di Kitson’[1-15] bowling as we won by 2 runs. Victory against Icklesham Cats in our last match should see us get some sort of trophy and we stepped up to the mark by bowling tight and fielding well as Shona[19n.o.] and Hannah[13n.o.] only got 35 from their 4 overs and in reply Charlie[12] and Lou[22n.o.] put on 28 before Charlie was run out but Di[6n.o.] saw us finish on 47 and victory as we were declared the winners so congratulations to Abigail, Charlie, Clare, Di, Lisa, Lou and Sarah.
