STOOLBALL: For the second match running our top order batsmen failed to score with us tottering on 39-6 against Scorpions Mixed last Tuesday. Keith Apps[2] was caught in the first over then Abigail Fifield[3], Charlie Apps[1] and Josh Lewis[5] all went in the second over. JJ Boast came in and scored a quick 14 before he was caught while Ian Kitson[1] was caught in the fifth over. A stand of 21 between Clare Baker[23] and skipper Richard Apps[8] was broken when Richard was caught and soon after Clare was bowled. Graham Clark[2], Kayleigh Sherwood[1] and Alisha Clark[1n.o.] ended our miserable performance on 63 all out. We needed quick wickets to stand any chance of victory but an opening partnership of 39 between Jackie[19] and Aaron[36] saw the visitors in command before Jackie was bowled by JJ[1-11]. Aaron was caught and bowled by Alisha[1-12] as Scorpions passed our total but there were wickets for Graham[1-7], Kayleigh[1-20] and catches for Kayleigh and Keith as the visitors won by 97 runs. After two dreadful games the Mixed team restored some confidence in the side at home against Icklesham on Thursday. The visitors batted first and lost Craig[6] to a catch from Keith Apps from Lisa Fifield’[1-9] bowling. Heidi[18] was run out and when Kevin[8] was caught by Keith from Diane Kitson’[2-1-37] they were on 48-3 but a partnership of 99 between Rachel[50] and Matt[72] was broken when Matt was caught by skipper Richard Apps from Abigail Fifield’[2-1-39] bowling. Rachel was bowled by Graham Clark[1-18] and Tracey[6] was bowled by Diane as George[32n.o. and Karen[7n.o.] took the visitors to 215-6 from their 12 overs. Our reply was steady with an opening partnership of 42 between Josh Lewis[30] and Penny[11] before Josh was caught and Penny was run out. Abigail[1] and Keith[16] were bowled with the score on 66-4 but a stand of 21 between JJ Boast[99n.o.] and Charlie Apps[9] steadied the innings but Lisa Fifield[1] and Diane[0] went quickly as Ian Kitson[27] joined JJ to put on 58 for a 8th wicket
