Pocket Park: the spring clean up is on Sunday 29th March between 2pm – 4pm weather permitting. If you would like to help please turn up via the bridge beside the football pitch. Come armed with gloves, secateurs, loppers what ever you have to cut back the under growth. Many hands make light work, and a bit of exercise in the fresh air thrown in for good measure.

Robertsbridge Aviation Society: will be opening its doors after the winter break on Sunday 29th March between 2pm – 5pm. There will be some new exhibits and refurbishments on display. The museum will then be open every last Sunday of each month until October. Entry and parking is free but all donations are gratefully received and go back into the upkeep of this unique museum. There are light refreshments available during your visit. If you would like further information on anything to do with the Society or museum please contact 01424 773428. St Mary’s Salehurst: this Sunday29th March is Palm Sunday and the services will be at 9am with Holy Communion in the Mission Room in Fair Lane, 11am the Choral Matins at Salehurst at 11am. There will be Palm crosses distributed during the service.

Then Easter is fast approaching with extra services at St Mary’s during Holy week. On Maundy Thursday, 2nd April there will be Said Eucharist at 8pm and 1 hour Watch of Prayer. On Good Friday 3rd April there will be the Sung Liturgy at 12 noon and on Easter Eve. 4th April there will be a Holy Vigil from 8pm.

Every one is welcome to attend any or all of these services.

Robertsbridge Hall: will be holding the next film night on Thursday 2nd April with doors opening from 7pm for the film to start at 7.30pm. The film this month is `Paddington Bear` which is perfect for children on school holidays.

Robertsbridge Community College: will be holding the following workshops over Easter Holidays.

Wednesday 1st April is Arts and Crafts between 10.30am – 1.30pm and is for Years 4 – 10. This cost £15 and will consist of designing and creating Easter Cards, hand making baskets, painting eggs (please supply 1 hard boiled egg with each child). Please take a snack and drink if you attend.

Thursday 2nd April will be the Science Workshop between 10am – 3pm this is for Year 5 and above and costs £18. Again snack and drink needed.

Thursday 9th April is Cooking Class and you can make yummy Muffins with Easter decorations. This is for years 5 – 9 and is between 10am – 12.30. This class costs £15 (including ingredients) and only has 20 places so please enquire about availability as soon as possible if you are interested.

Also on Thursday 9th is a One Day Football Club with Mr Mongiat. This is for Years 5-10 and costs £10 and is between 10am – 1pm. please bring lots to drink.

Jazz Club: will be holding their evening this month at Robertsbridge Hall on Thursday 9th April between 8pm – 10.30pm. This month the evening will be featuring the celebrated jazz clarinettist and saxophonist Julian Marc Stringle together with Mike Hext (trombone), Ted Beamont (Piano), Paul Morgan (Bass) and Pete Beamont (drums). Tickets are £8 if bought in advance and are available from Judges Bakery or £10 on the door on the night.

Post Office Closure: this is happening tomorrow Saturday 28th March and will be a complete change for our High Street. But do not despair as all Post Office transactions can be carried out at the Village Stores in Station Road. It will be strange not to see a Post office in its own right but good that we have not lost our post office altogether as so many rural places have over the years. I know I have said it so many times but please if you don’t use it you lose it and this is happening to our village even more in recent years. Don’t forget that there are still shops at the bottom end of the High Street, so please continue to use them too.

Finally don’t forget to alter your clocks tomorrow night, they go forward 1 hour. We have survived the winter and now spring is finally here. Please remember with lighter evenings if you are out walking your dog keep them on a lead if near sheep as it is now lambing time and sheep worrying is a terrible thing. Farmers have the right to shoot a dog if it is causing their animals distress. No body wants this to happen so please be aware.

DARTS: Michael Stone went out in the 1st Round of the Captains Cup last week. Tonight we are at Mountfield Club playing against The Old King John in the Final of the Pushpenny Knockout Cup 8p.m.

FOOTBALL : The long awaited ‘Peter Reid Day’ took place last Saturday when Robertsbridge United II hosted Battle Baptists III at The Clappers. A strong bitter wind kept people away but a crowd of around 60 braved the elements to see The Bridge take an early lead when Michael Stone tapped in from two yards and despite having most of the play in the first half we failed to increase our lead and poor marking from a corner saw the Baptists level 3 minutes before the break. The half time team talk from Peter inspired The Bridge and Justin Hardy scored 10 minutes into the half from a Tom Ripley free kick. A Matt Winchester free kick sailed into the top corner on 65 minutes and five minutes later Wayne Mewett netted with The Bridge in free flow mood the very impressive Ripley scored twice to make it 6-1. Man of the match Ripley got booked for a bad challenge and then 5 minutes from the end Adam Hardy headed in and then another Ripley cross found young Josh Goodsell at the far post to complete an 8-1 win. It was very fitting that Justin scored as it was his knowledge that won the competition through Breathe Sports to bring Peter to our match. Peter had plenty of time to talk and pose for photo’s to connect with the locals and then at Robertsbridge Club he mingled with the players and supporters before the Q & A session which had everybody laughing with his stories. Robertsbridge United F.C. would like to thank Steve from Breathe Sports, Peter Reid, Simon Roe, the photographer, and Robertsbridge Club for making this an historic day for the Football Club. There will be photo’s and action pictures from the day available in the near future. Tomorrow the 1st team are away to Hollington United while the 2nd team are at home to Orington with both matches K.O. 3p.m. Don’t forget tomorrow we are holding a ‘Race Night’ at Robertsbridge Club from 7.30p.m. This event is open to anyone and is a fun evening whether you want to bet or not come along and experience the atmosphere. There is also a raffle with lots of prizes and all profit will go to the Football Club.

STOOLBALL: Tonight we are holding a ‘Signing-on Night’ at Robertsbridge Club from 7.30p.m. There will be indoor curling, games, quiz and lots of fun and a raffle to raise funds for the Stoolball Club so come along and enjoy an evening of fun.

LADIES DARTS: It was singles knockout at Ticehurst Club this week and although all our players played well none of them got through to the final however there were high scores from Eileen Morgan[100,74], Jackie Danaher[95,81,77],

Carol Apps[94,92,80,76,73,72,71], Alice Hodges[92] and Steph Goldsmith[72]. On Monday Jackie is playing in the Captains Cup at The Bear 8p.m.
