Tomorrow is also Robertsbridge Children’s Fete Day that will take place at Salehurst Primary School between 12and 3pm. There will be lots of fun for all the family including Salehurst Shoot, Beat the Goalie, and wine or water, as well as plant, accessories, nearly new toys and books. Refreshments including a bar, BBQ, will also be available. There will be some great entertainment from the East Sussex School of Performing Arts and Hastings Coastal Twirlers as well as from Jess and Jackies Dance Club. The tombola is always popular as is World Cup Wishes (not one for England this year) and the fantastic raffle with cash prizes from Rush Witt and Wilson and Culverwells, as well as beautiful hampers and other unique prizes such as activities at PGL. Lets hope the weather is kind and you all pop along to support our local school and its children.

Robertsbridge Club are having `Loose Change` play tomorrow evening, the 5th July from 8pm.

A reminder that on Thursday 10th July is Jazz Club Night at Robertsbridge Hall. This is open between 8pm – 10.30pm and this month they present International Jazz singer `Liane Carroll`. Tickets will be limited, in order to keep that jazz club atmosphere, with bar, food and table seating. Get your tickets in advance from Judges Bakery at the cost of £10 each.

Age Concern meets on Mondays at Robertsbridge Hall between 10.30am – 2.15. Seniors residing in Robertsbridge are invited to stop by for coffee/tea to see al that goes on each Monday. A warm welcome is always guaranteed.

Age Concern is looking fort a new Chairman or joint Chairman to enable the group top carry on serving the 20+ members who attend each week. The main responsibility would be to oversee the different areas that are vital to ensure the smooth running and future viability of Robertsbridge Age Concern.

The funeral of Pam Harding is taking place at Hastings Crematorium on Tuesday 8th July at 12.30. Everyone that knew Pam is welcome to attend with flowers welcomed and any donations to RNLI.

Football : Robertsbridge United Football Club held their annual awards at New Spice last Saturday and the winners were as follows:- 1st team Top Goal Scorer - Guy Ballard; Man of the Match - Phil Green; Players Player - Paul Barnes; Managers Player - Ben Hardy; Young Player - Dominic Whittaker. 2nd team Top Goal Scorer - Wayne Mewett; Man of the Match - Ian Austin; Players Player - Henry Jex; Managers Player - Justin Hardy; Young Player - Henry Jex. The awards were presented by Eddie Potter from the Sussex County F.A. There was also a special award presented by Keveena Mosen(SCFA) to Roy Bishop and Keith Stone who accepted the F.A. Standard Charter Club plaque on behalf of the Football Club. Alan Apps(Chairman) also thanked the sponsors Paul Mitchell Plasterers, Playfoot Engineering, British Gypsum and New Spice. Training starts on Wednesday 16th July 2014 at 7p.m. and on Saturday 20th July 2014 at 1.30p.m. @ The Recreation Ground for all players and any new players are welcome.

Stoolball : The Mixed played at Brightling last Tuesday and opened the batting with a partnership of 118 between Ian Kitson[80] and Sophie Turner[30] but when Sophie and Ian went in the 10th over followed by Abigail[0] we needed to regroup and that was left to Phil Green[44n.o.] and Penny Clark[4n.o.] to see us end the 12 overs on 167-3. In reply the hosts lost their first wicket in the second over when Richard Apps took a catch from Ian Kitson’[1-5] bowling but a second wicket stand of 28 steadied their innings before Penny[2-5] aided with catches from Sophie and Lisa Fifield and then Keith Apps[1-4] aided by a catch from Richard saw the hosts on 39-4. The hosts tried to recover but a run out and another catch for Richard off the bowling of Abigail[1-22] saw them finish on 126-6 and a 41 run win with the highlight of the match watching Keith trying to stop a four and ending up falling over the fence with his feet pointing skyward and when the laughter from all around the ground died he brushed himself off to continue the game. On Sunday the Mixed played at Staplecross with Civil Service our first opponents which saw Phil[97n.o.] and Sophie[6] put on 82 for the first wicket and Abigail[1n.o.] we ended our 5 overs on 106-1. We bowled and fielded very tightly and kept Civil Service down to 80-5 with wickets from Richard[2-10] aided with catches from Sophie and Phil while excellent fielding resulted in 3 run out’s for a 26 run victory. Next was the hosts and again we batted first with Phil[69n.o.] and Sophie[9] putting on a 76 partnership with Abigail[5n.o.] ending the 5 overs on 91-1, however poor bowling allowed the hosts to score freely and only Josh Lewis[1-16] and Phil[1-16] aided by a catch from Ian did any damage as the hosts won by 11 runs. We played Brightling next and Phil[49], Sophie[24], Josh[11n.o.] and Abigail[4n.o.] gave us a score of 94-2. We bowled and fielded well as we restricted Brightling to 67-2, both run out’s, for a 27 run win. We needed to win our final match to stand a chance of a medal and it was Phil[84n.o.] and Sophie[7] who opened with a 69 partnership then Abigail[5n.o.] got us to 104-1. All the players knew we had to restrict Pett in the early overs and we did just that with Josh[1-10], Di Kitson[0-9], Phil[1-8] keeping them to just 27 from 3 overs which meant that we were almost there and a final run out saw Pett finish on 66 and a 38 run victory and the winners trophy. Richard, Phil, Sophie, Abigail, Josh, Ian, Di were our victors with Phil picking up the most runs medal. Well done to everyone involved. Sunday[6th] is Icklesham Ladies Tournament[11am] while on Tuesday[8th] the Mixed are at Catsfield and on Thursday[10th] the Ladies are away to Brightling with both matches 7p.m.
