Robertsbridge

So I will start with our condolences to family and friends of Barbara Smith and Nick Wood and apologies for them being a week late.

Tonight Friday 16th May at Robertsbridge Club is the monthly Jive, Swing and Rock`n`Roll Night. This is from 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start. Everyone is welcome and costs just £3.00 for guests and is free to members.

In a couple of weeks it’s the Bonfire Society Auction at Robertsbridge Club. If you have anything you would like to donate or would like to know further details please contact the Chairman Pete Claridge on 880468 or pop in and see Sandie at the Floral Boutique. Anything is gratefully accepted, as this is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year and every little helps. Of course if you have nothing to donate please feel free to go along and buy some bargains, there will be some thing for everyone’s taste. Again this year will see Ross Mercer on the microphone, as seen on Bargain Hunt on TV on many occasions.

There is also the return of the Boot Sale on the Recreation Ground on Sunday June 15th; this is open at 1pm for sellers and 2pm for buyers. The cost of a pitch is £10 if booked by ringing 880468, or £15 on the day. Again this is the Bonfire Society organising this event so please support if you can.

On Sunday June 22nd is the Robertsbridge Summer Event at the Recreation Ground between 1.30pm and 5pm. This year’s theme is Robertsbridge Generation Game. Take along a picnic, and enjoy music, treasure hunt, ice creams, drinks bar and magic fun for all the family.

Darts: The season draws to a close on Friday 23rd at Robertsbridge Club where the finals of the darts and pushpenny will be played at 8p.m. The very popular Open Pairs Darts Knockout returns on Sunday 25th May 2014 at Robertsbridge Club with registration at 7.30p.m. Entry is £1 per person and there will be a raffle. This is becoming very popular as a social and fun evening. There are still some spaces left in you fancy a trip to Hove Dogs on Saturday 7th June 2014 leaving Robertsbridge Club at 5.30p.m. The cost is £25 which includes free travel, free drinks, free food, free bet and free entry. Stoolball: The season started with a trip to Ashburnham for our Mixed team where they lost by 21 runs and then our British summer saw our Ladies away match at Catsfield cancelled on Thursday and it also saw our Mixed Tournament on Sunday cancelled. Next match for the Ladies is at home to Pett on Tuesday [20th] while the Mixed are away to Staplecross on Thursday [22nd].
