Little Stars School of Dance is a dance and movement class with Melody Bear and is for boys and girls aged 2yrs – 4 yrs. These are friendly run classes being held at Robertsbridge Hall between 2pm – 2.30pm on a Tuesday afternoon. The first class is free and then £3.50 per session. Thursday 21st November is the next evening of Progressive Whist at Robertsbridge Hall starting at 7pm. All are welcome.

Friday 22nd November at Robertsbridge Club you can see `Funke and the Two Tone Baby`. This starts at 8pm and entry is free to members and just £3.00 for guests. I have been told this is one not to be missed.

F.O.R.C.C. presents a Night at the Races with Jackpot Entertainment. This is being held at Robertsbridge Community College on Wednesday 27th November the cost is £5.00 per person and includes a light supper with the first race at 7pm. There will be a licensed bar available. All are welcome. Why not own your own horse !! at just £3.00 each. Prizes for the winning owners. 1st Robertsbridge Scouts Group are holding a Bingo Night on Friday 29th November at Robertsbridge Hall with eyes down at 7.30pm. There will be great Christmas Prizes a raffle and refreshments. It’s a fun evening for all the family, please go along and support if you can as the proceeds raised will all go towards the re-wiring of the Scout HQ.

Its that time of year when Lynettes Calendars are now available from Belle Flowers in the High Street. They have original paintings for each month of local scenes and cost just £6.00 each. The perfect Christmas Present.

The main event of the village calendar is now here with tomorrow being the Robertsbridge Bonfire Society Celebrations.

A reminder that at 7am there will be a very loud firework that goes off to let everyone in the village know that the Bonfire members are on the field starting to prepare for the day.

There will be a lot of activity going on in the area of the recreation ground all day and there will be no public access across the field once there are fireworks on site.

The Guy Competition is taking place with the judging at 2pm, so you have to have your entry at the recreation ground by 1.30pm. All entrants will receive a sweet and the winner will win £20, which is sponsored by the Floral Boutique. All of the Guys will have the honour of being on the Bonfire that evening unless you want to take it home, which must be done as soon as judging is over.

It is not too late to help by being a marshal or a collector. The marshals meeting is at 8pm this evening 15th at Robertsbridge Club. You can go and be briefed in your duties and pick up your high viz jacket. If you would like to collect tomorrow evening you can pick up a collecting box from the Club at 6pm, remember that all the proceeds of the street collection go back to the various village groups so please be generous with your donations.

There are programmes still available from the shops in the village and they will tell you all details needed for the evening. However I will endeavour to put the most important ones here.

From 6pm – 10pm there will be a road closure covering the High Street, George Hill, Station Road and Northbridge Street. If you usually park in these areas can you please find alternative parking for these times for the safety of your car and all on procession.

The route has changed slightly this year and will not be covering Northbridge Street. The procession will assemble at the Station at 6.45pm and will process after the maroon at 7.15pm. It will leave the Station and make its way to High Street and up George Hill, turning at Heathfield Gardens it will come back to High Street back along to the Station for re-torch and then at 8.15pm will return along Station Road and then continue down through the High Street to the recreation ground.

The Bonfire will be lit at 8.30pm followed by the Grand Firework Display. All these times are approx.

There is a disability area for those requiring wheel chair access go to the gate to the left of the football pavilion and a marshal will assist you through to the area in front of the Cricket Pavilion.

From the safety aspect of the evening please adhere to instructions issued by the police and marshals. Do not push out onto the road as the procession comes by, as this can be dangerous with the flaming torches that are involved. Do not push children’s buggies too close to the kerb edge as the torches are discarded into the gutters for pick up by the torch carts at the back of procession, also please do not attempt to pick these torches up. Children can be frightened by the noise and fire and we all want everyone to have fun and enjoy the evening.

We advise that a parent or guardian accompany minors under the age of 16.

It is illegal to discharge fireworks in the street and you could be arrested if caught doing so.

Having said all this, if anything should go wrong and you need first aid please go to a marshal with the yellow jackets as they will be able to get you help from the Red Cross, who will be in procession and will also be stationed at the Recreation Ground.

Last but not least don’t forget your pets, if they are frightened leave the TV or radio on for them and make sure they are safe and secure.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society does not accept liability for any loss; injury or damage incurred during the event and remind those that attend that they do so at their own risk.

Now that I have said all that, it is just left to say have a fantastic night, lets hope the weather is kind and please stay safe.

Ladies darts: We only had four players for our away league match at Ticehurst Club due to illness which meant we lose two games, one single and one trebles, but despite that we held the hosts in the singles with wins for Alice Hodges and Eileen Morgan to go into the doubles 3-2 down, however, victories for Alice/Eileen and Eileen/Jackie Danaher brought the score to 4-4. We failed to win any trebles games so we lost the match 7-4 with high scores for Jackie[121] and Carol Apps[81]. On Monday[18th] we are at home to The White Hart(Wadhurst) II 8p.m.

Friday darts: We had a surprise 5-2 win at table topping Crowhurst Park in the darts with victories for Dan Smith, Keith Stone, Dave Goodsell, Michael Stone and Guy Ballard while the Mens Pairs of Richard Hawthorne/Dan won 1-0. There were 100+ scores for Richard[140,100] Michael[108,100x3], Keith[106], Justin Hardy[100x3], Dan[100x2] and Guy Ballard[100]. We won pushpenny 3-2 with wins for Dave Goodsell, Michael Stone and Alan Apps. There was a ‘goldwatch’ apiece for Alan, David Fortsch and Ted Goldfinch. Tonight we are at home to The Millers Arms 8p.m.

Football: Both our matches last week were postponed due to the waterlogged pitches. Tomorrow the 1st team are away to Ticehurst K.O. 2p.m. while the 2nd team are away to Burwash in the Hastings F.A. Lower Divisions Cup K.O. 1.30p.m.
