Stoolball: Our Mixed home match on Tuesday was cancelled due to wet conditions but the Mixed did play at Civil Service on Thursday. The hosts batted first and lost their first wicket with 40 on the board when Keith Marden held onto a catch from Richard Apps’ bowling and in the next over Melinda Mackay claimed the second wicket aided by a catch from Emma Turner but then a third wicket partnership of 110 between Ann(61) and Neil(42not out) was broken when Alan Green held onto a catch from Ian Kitson’ bowling the hosts finished on 154-3 from their 10 overs. Wicket takers were Richard(1-14), Ian(1-14) and Mel (1-29). An opening first wicket partnership of 59 between Keith(50) and Melinda(32 not out) gave us a solid start and when skipper Richard(37not out) arrived at the crease we were hopeful but we fell 14 runs short ending on 140-1. On Sunday we played at Brightling’ Mixed Tournament and in the first match we lost to the hosts by 15 runs.
