This last item is a never-ending subject in the village and beyond, which is dog fouling on the footpaths. The children are back to school and many complaints are in from all areas of the village en route to the school. This is a health hazard besides being disgusting if you tread in it, or fall in it as has been noted. Please again, if you are a dog owner, pick up behind your animal; be responsible, as I know many owners are. There are a few people making it very miserable for many people in this village, if you see someone allowing fouling to take place contact the Parish Council with the details.

Football: The 1st team’s entertained Peche Hill Select at the Clappers with an almost full strength squad we took the lead after 20 minutes when Guy Ballard rounded three defenders before beating the keeper. The Bridge doubled their lead on the half hour mark when a Kevin Bird corner was met by Tom Ashdown whose header flew into the net for a 2-0 half time lead. The second half saw the visitors pressure our defence but it stood strong with man of the match Chris Phillips doing well and the Bridge increased their lead when excellent work by Phil Green saw his pass finished off by Ballard’s second of the match on 65 minutes and just 10 minutes later another Bird corner was headed home by Adam Hardy for a 4-0 victory. The second team played at Bexhill Road against Orington II in a cold blustery wind it was difficult for both sides but in a competitive first half there were little chances for either side but the Bridge burst into life in the second period with a Bradley Lyne shot hitting the post on the hour. The hosts went looking for the equaliser but the Bridge defence stood strong with man of the match Wayne Mewett marshalling the troops. The Bridge had another chance on 75 minutes but Wayne Carley’s effort just went over the bar as did Matt Winchester’ free kick with six minutes left and so both teams settled for a goalless draw. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to Spartan 04 at the Clappers while the 2nd team are away to Sandhurst II with both matches K.O. 3p.m.

Ladies darts: We played at home to The Best Beech and were losing 3-2 after singles victories for Jackie Danaher and Carol Apps while we fell further behind at 3-5 when Dawn Mitchell/Jackie were our only doubles winners. 7-4 defeat in a match where we could not get our doubles. There were high scores for Steph [107,84,81], Carol [106,83x2], Jackie [88,83,82,81], Dawn [79], Alice Hodges [77,75] and Rosemary [77,75]. On Monday [4th] we are away to The White Hart II(Wadhurst) at 8p.m.
