Robertsbridge village voice

We would like to start this week by sending our condolences to the family of John Lambourne who sadly died last week. He was our Vicar in Robertsbridge and Salehurst for many years and was much missed when he retired. He kept bouncing back to do the odd funeral or wedding and this is sadly no longer a possibility.

John was a great support to many villagers, and in years gone by has been known to do that supporting at a pub bar enjoying a little tipple. This is what made him good at his job; he was accessible not only in the church but anywhere if you needed him. He was also there for people that didn’t have faith, and was approachable to the young and the old and any age in between. Personally he has married and buried many of my loved ones as I know he has for many of you, lets hope that he finds the peace and eternal life that he believed in, in life.

Tomorrow is the Robertsbridge Guides Brownies and Rainbows Jumble Sale at the Church Room in Fair Lane between 10am – 12 noon. If you have any late donations you would like to give please ring Jo on 880872 or Jane on 880619 and I am sure they will come and collect.

Sandie at the Floral Boutique has some books available that have been written by the Hastings Writers Group. These books are short stories and the book is called `Ghost Writers`. All proceeds go to the Association of Carers, which is Young Carers, Supporting Young Carers that Care.

Lantern Tree Theatre Group is a local group that will be putting on a production of `Wind in the Willows` in Robertsbridge from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th August.

The group are in need of any unwanted fabrics, in keeping with the Pre 1914 costume theme, this includes Floral Fabrics, they also need any spare emulsion paint you may have hanging around. If you would like to volunteer and are willing to help with the production side of this project the more the merrier. The greater the team, the lesser the load, for any individual. There really is no task too small. If you can donate any of the above or would be interested in helping please contact Leon on 01580 880921 or Mark on 07898188139 as soon as possible.
