Hopes are high it will repeat the success of recent Christmas seasons with its mix of strong cast, funny script, superb music and excellent dance routines.

Producer John Spillers, of Spillers Pantomimes, said: “We’ve been here about eight years and the shows have got to be clean and to appeal to all ages.

“You’ve got to remember some of the more elderly members of the audience will know more about panto than the children.”

He said the show would cost some £130,000 to stage to ensure first class entertainment to the audience who are set to pack the theatre.

Centre manager Mike Stevens said: “The panto is massively important to us.

“More than 10,000 people come through the doors to see it.

“It’s a showcase for us because it allows them to see what else that is going on here.

“Spillers put on successful pantos around the country. There is no reason to change them.

“If we didn’t have a panto, people would ask why.”
