TORRENTIAL rain and strong winds did not dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd on the first night of the 2011 ‘Rock In The Bog’ music festival in Lewes.
An audience of more than 500 gave Friday night headliners ‘Jellyhead’ and support act ‘U2 Tribe’ a gig to remember.
Day two was far brighter and drier and festival headliners ‘Dirty DC’ took to the stage to put the finishing touch to an exceptional weekend of live music.
Event co-organiser Mark Greenwood said: “This was by far the best year for the festival in its eight-year history, well attended, music to suit everyone and a fantastic atmosphere throughout. We work hard to bring the festival together, and it is very rewarding to receive such great feedback from those who either played at or attended the event.
“It is unfortunate that we received a small number of complaints from Malling residents following Rock In The Bog regarding high volume music that could be clearly heard up to around 6am on the Sunday morning. We would like to stress that this music did not emanate from our site, but from an alternative ‘rave event’ taking place upriver towards Barcombe.
“We appreciate the co-operation of local residents allowing us to stage our festival each year, and work closely with Lewes District Council to ensure that disturbance to the local community is kept to a minimum whilst maintaining a festival atmosphere.”
