Rockability set to raise funds for Jake

Becky Davis wants to convert her garage to accommodate a hydrotherapy room with a small pool equipped for her son Jake, 24, who has cerebral palsy and dislocated hips. He suffers pain and discomfort and a small pool would help relive his pain and strengthen his muscles. Hydrotherapy pools don’t come cheap and at a cost of around £26,000 Becky knew she had a tough goal to reach. Undeterred, last October she set forth and launched ‘Jake’s Splash of Delight’ fundraising campaign and, thanks to what she describes as “the overwhelming generosity” of local residents and businesses including a further donation from Hastings Round Table of £2000, there’s now £21,700 in the kitty. With the target figure of £26,000 now in sight the family are gearing up for the day the pool can be installed. Becky said: “South East Pools, Bexhill, say they can design and put it in this summer.

“If there are any tradesmen who could offer their services with the installation we would be very grateful.”

Becky’s arranged one last Rocakability ‘style’ fundraiser at the Azur, St Leonards, next Friday (June 5) at 7pm. Featuring live music from top rockabilly band, Jacen Bruce & The Memphis Underground, legendary DJ’s 2 Houndogs (who are all offering their services for free), a £50 Vivien of Holloway voucher for best dressed and raffle.

Becky said: “I hope to get Jake out of his wheelchair and in his hydrotherapy pool soon - which will put a smile on everyone’s face and make me the most grateful mum in Hastings! Its been a dream for ages..I have to keep pinching myself...”
