Rocket FM, the Lewes community radio station, is to return to the airwaves next week for its 15th annual broadcast in the run up to the Lewes Bonfire celebrations.

The station will broadcast locally on 87.8FM from Friday, October 23 (online from October 19) and will feature local musicians, presenters and guests, playing the music they are passionate about, as well as broadcasting all the essential bonfire and community information.

The station will also be delivering live commentary of the bonfire events during the day and evening of Thursday, November 5.

Rocket FM chairman Roger Stamp said: “Rocket is back with a bang this year. We’ll be airing more community views and news and playing more diverse music than ever before.

“There will be interviews and ideas from Lewes characters, groups, organisations and societies, as well as lots of live music.

“We took a break last year and were taken aback by the huge number of people who said they missed hearing us as part of bonfire.

“We’ve had amazing support to get back on air this year – so many businesses and organisations have helped.”

The station will broadcast live from Lewes, from 7am until 11pm each day. A leaflet with full programme listings is being distributed to all homes in the town. It is also available from Lewes Tourist Information Centre and some shops.

Rocket FM can be heard live online from Monday, October 19 via www.rocketfm.org.uk and it will continue until late on November 6.

To make a request or to take part in a programme, email info@rocketfm.org.uk or call 01273 473390.

The station is sponsored by Harveys, Lewes Town Council, Morgan Kelly Solicitors, WE Clark and Son jewellers and the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, among others.
