115 people from local pubs and clubs have been busy trying to work out winning strategies to become supreme champions for 2014 in the town’s annual marbles matches.

Wardrobe masters and mistresses are stitching and gluing outfits in preparation for the fancy dress competition, whilst the umpires are undergoing final training in the rules and regulations and deciding how many donkey drops merit a red card.

Matches start at 10am and continue until noon.

Cups and medals will be presented to the winning teams at around noon.

Although teams cannot be entered on the day, but those not on a team can try their luck on the ‘all-comers board’ with two Easter chicks as prizes for the highest score during the morning.

The children’s Easter Bonnet Parade will take place at 11.30am, with the free children’s marble scramble immediately afterwards, with 1,000 free marbles up for grabs.

All children taking part in the parade will get an Easter egg.
