Rother wheelie bins - latest

DESPITE the Wainwright Road fire destroying thousands of wheelie bins, boxes and lids, distribution to the majority of Rother households has been completed ready for the new collection system.

A spokesman said this week that the new system should start next week.

"Some households have not yet had their bins, green boxes or lids but these will be provided very soon.

"Residents who have received bins and boxes but no information on the new system can obtain all the information they need from the dedicated web site at www.recycleforrother.co.uk or can contact the Council on 01424 787580.

"Households that do not have new bins and boxes will continue with their weekly black sack service.

"Demand recently exceeded capacity at several local recycling 'bring centres'. PHS Wastetech Ltd provides the recycling collection services across much of East Sussex but sites in Rother have been suffering from overflowing recycling bins.

"After meeting with council officers, the company increased the number of collections being made from the Rother centres and additional bins have been provided at several sites to improve matters.

"After the introduction of domestic collections for paper, cans and plastics the council will reconsider demand for these and other materials at the recycling points.

"More information about the new domestic waste and recycling collection services can be found at www.recycleforrother.co.uk by sending an e-mail to [email protected] or by contacting the Rother Waste and Recycling line 01424 787580."
