Rotor and Motor Power

A DAY-long event in aid of the Dennis Kenyon Jr Helicopter Flying Scholarship, at Shoreham Airport on Sunday, has raised more than 3,500 to train a new helicopter pilot.

The Rotors and Motors Performance Day found its feet with a samba beat, courtesy of the Beach Bateria Samba Band from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Shoreham Beach.

Visitors to the airport saw a large collection of classic cars and helicopters and enjoyed helicopter flights over the surrounding area.

One of the highlights of the day was Tom Moloney, from Transair, who took his Strikemaster jet into the skies for a thrilling display.

The Dennis Kenyon Jr Scholarship was set up after Dennis Kenyon Jr was killed in a tragic helicopter accident last year.

His father, Dennis Kenyon Sr (pictured above, on the left) created the scholarship, the first of its kind in Britain, and he hopes it and the day itself will now become a regular fixture, staged every year.
