Royal Mail reminds customers of second class posting dates

Royal Mail is reminding customers to post all their second class mail by the recommended last posting date of Saturday (December 19).

Customers have until December 21 to post First Class mail items and December 23 to post Special Delivery mail.

Each year Royal Mail invests in additional resources for its Christmas operation to handle the festive mail bag.

This has included recruiting 19,000 seasonal workers, deploying an extra 4,700 trucks and vans and opening ten temporary parcel sort centres.

Customers are advised to ensure they use the postcode when sending their cards and parcels and use a return address on their cards and parcels.

Royal Mail will be operating extended seasonal delivery and increasing customer collection services until Christmas Eve.

This includes more than 400 Delivery Offices remaining open until 5pm for parcel collection on Christmas Eve.

Across the UK, there will be no delivery services or Customer Service Points open from Christmas Day to Monday December 28 inclusive.

Normal mail services will recommence on Tuesday December 29 until Thursday December 31. There will be no deliveries or Customer Service Points open on New Year’s Day across the UK.
