With an 880-square metre main rink, and a separate area for beginners, there is also a bar and restaurant area serving stone-baked pizzas for the first time.

On Thursday (November 2), skating champions Zoe Jones and Christopher Boyadji opened the rink at a VIP launch party, treating hundreds of guests to a performance, before the ice was opened for the first time this season.

Guests were also treated to a festive performance from talented young figure skaters Sophia and Curtis Elton, who have skated and played music on TV as well as for royalty. As an extra treat, guests enjoyed live music from the Brighton College Prep School Chamber Choir.

The rink opens to the public for its eighth year at 10am this Saturday (November 4) until January 14 2018.

Cllr Alan Robins, chairman of Brighton and Hove’s tourism, development and culture committee, said: “We’re delighted to welcome back the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink for its eighth year in the city. The ice rink opening really marks the start of the festive season for us here in Brighton and Hove and we are proud to host the South East’s most beautiful winter ice rink!”
