Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council have received 41 street party notifications.
The last date for applying for a road closure was March 31. Following the Prime Minister’s recent comments, encouraging people to hold street parties, the councils have issued additional information.
Spokeswoman Wendy Knight said Adur and Worthing still wanted to encourage residents to hold a street party.
She asked, though, that residents used the following guidance to ensure the party was safe.
The public cannot legally stop vehicles entering a road without a road closure order. Anyone who would like advice on how to safely use their street, and how to borrow signs, can call Dan Witcher on 01243 642105.
And West Sussex highways department will require public liability insurance. This can be arranged by calling 0845 6023895.
