Royal Wedding: West Sussex celebrates

WEST Sussex was in party mood today as residents got together to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

Dozens of official street parties were organised while hundreds more barbecues and smaller get-togethers were held in gardens and on village greens.

Many of the county’s residents made the trip to London to savour the atmosphere and catch a glimpse of the wedding couple.

Colin Bickers, from Worthing, was interviewed on BBC TV after completing a 65-mile walk in a suit of armour from the town to Buckingham Palace.

He set off on St George’s Day and raised more than £3,000 for Help the Heroes and the Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, near Arundel.

See the West Sussex Gazette on Wednesday for a souvenir edition of how the county celebrated the Royal Wedding.
