Beachy Head Marathon will take place on October 25 and with just two months to go organisers say there is still time to sign up and get training.
The Beachy Head Marathon covers 300 steps and 14 gates, passing through Jevington, Alfriston, Litlington, Friston Forest, the Cuckmere Valley and Seven Sisters, including Birling Gap and Beachy Head.
Entries are still open, closing on October 10.
So far organisers said they are delighted to welcome runners from all round the globe.
With live music at key points along the way, there will be plenty of viewing points for spectators to cheer entrants on around the course with the easiest accessible for spectators being at the Seven Sisters Country Park and Birling Gap.
Last year, a new additional 10km race was added and it will return again this year. Hill runners can enjoy a shorter version of the marathon with a route comprising breath taking views and challenges.
This year’s official charities are Eastbourne and District Mencap, St Wilfrid’s Hospice Eastbourne and Run 4 Cancer.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Leisure and Sports Services, Cllr Carolyn Heaps said: “The marathon and 10k event is a highlight in the Eastbourne events calendar allowing runners to run and walk the beautiful South Downs. We encourage those who are thinking of signing up to do so as it really is a phenomenal race.”
Both races start and finish at Bedes School on Dukes Drive. The marathon starts at 9am and the 10k shortly after. The marathon entry fee is £33 and the 10k £13. Runners can enter at www.beachyheadmarathon.co.uk
