Rustington beach cleaners’ strange finds

RUSTINGTON beach is looking its best for Easter, after more than 20 volunteers gave it a spring clean.

Beach wardens Marigold and Allan Brown, and their helpers, tackled a 500m stretch of the beach and collected 24kgs of rubbish, including tangled fishing nets and the skin and bones of a fox, as well as a mobile phone, car radio and numerous pieces of plastic.

The Rustington clean-up was part of a national spring clean of the UK coastline organised by the Marine Conservation Society.

Marigold said: “Unfortunately, some dog walkers are failing to pick up after their dogs have fouled the beach and are not even using plastic bags. There are bins provided for this purpose.

“If these dog walkers are seen on our beaches, please report them to the dog warden on 01903 737755.”

She thanked everyone who helped on Saturday and Arun District Council for collecting all the rubbish after the clean –up.
