Rustington boy’s birthday ruined by guitar theft

THIEVES stole a seven-year-old’s guitar – on his birthday.

The incident happened on Monday (March 9), in Selborne Road, Rustington, between 8.05am and 8.10am.

The youngster had left the six-string, second-hand guitar by his home’s doorstep for minutes, when an opportunistic thief stole the instrument.

The boy’s mother, who does not want to be identified, told the Gazette: “We both just couldn’t believe it. It was literally left outside for minutes and someone stole it.

“I was just absolutely shocked. I honestly never thought anything like that would ever happen.”

The theft has now been reported to Sussex Police which is investigating the incident.

The force is now appealing for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious, or seen a person carrying a black guitar case, with yellow fluorescent stripes on it, to contact it. People can email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 228 of 9/3.
