Rustington early-hours arson attack

A CAR was severely damaged by an arson attack in Rustington in the early hours of Saturday morning (July 4).

The fire was set in a garage compound in Maple Walk at about 2.40am. A garage near the car, as well as about 5m of fencing, were damaged by the heat radiating from the burning vehicle.

Firefighters from East Preston spent about 30 minutes putting out the flames, and a spokeswoman for West Sussex County Council confirmed that the blaze had been started deliberately.
