Rustington family’s future could be hit after bike theft

A “DEVASTATED” father from Rustington is offering a £100 reward to anyone who can help him trace his scooter after it was stolen over the weekend.

Adam Philpott has spoken of his anguish after discovering that his red Honda scooter had been snatched by thieves from the front garden of his home, in Northcourt Close, on Saturday (March 2).

Adam, 25, who works part-time at the Rudford industrial Estate, in Ford, said the vehicle was a vital tool needed to fulfil his ambition to start his own business and carve a better life for himself and his young family.

He said that without it he was having to spend about 10 times more buying a bus ticket to get to work than he would have on fuel for his bike, and that this was already beginning to strain his family’s tight budget.

He said: “I’m devastated. It may not sound like a massive thing but this is the only transport my family has at the moment.

“I really want to create a better life for my two children and partner, but I can’t do this without my bike,

“My partner and I both work part-time and really struggle to make ends meet.”

Adam is in the final stages of applying for a Government start-up load to expand his fledgling wholesale cigarette delivery business, Discrete Smoker Retail.

“I need the moped to get to customers and deliver their products and I also need it to get to my current job.

“Everything that used to be within easy reach has just been taken away,” he added.

The theft has been reported to police, who are now investigating the crime.

The bike is a red Honda ANF 125i Innova, registration KS04 ZRD.

Anyone with information about the crime are being urged to contact Sussex Police, on 101, quoting reference number 0554-2013/03/02.
