Rustington group make cakes for charity

DELICIOUS cakes and generous women proved to be the perfect recipe for fund-raising success, as a Rustington group raise more than £700 for charity.

Members of the Stepping Stones Ladies’ Club, normally based at the village’s Methodist church hall, in Claigmar Road, dug deep to support servicemen’s charity, Help for Heroes.

The group held an afternoon tea at The Windmill Inn, in Mill Lane, Rustington, to raise money for the charity.

Chris Goodbody, from the club, said: “It was very well attended and with the added addition of good weather everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. With a few more anticipated donations from members who could not attend, we made in excess of £700 in aid of this year’s cause.”

The club has chosen to support Help for Heroes throughout 2011. The charity helps to rehabilitate and support injured servicemen and woman, along with their families.

On offer during the event was a scrumptious selection of home-made cakes, together with nibbles provided by the pub.

There was also a raffle and tombola, with a special quiz based on the Battle of Trafalgar.

The club wished to thank everyone involved during the day.
