Rustington shop worker in hospital after £10,000 raid

TWO MASKED men stole £10,000 from a Rustington pet shop this morning (Monday, July 20) and left a worker in hospital.

It happened just before 7am, when the thieves went into Pets at Home, New Road, where the staff member, a man in his 50s, was preparing to open the store alone.

A spokesman for Sussex police said: "They then struggled with the member of staff before making him open the store's safe.

"The men left at the rear of the store and made off over railway lines.

"They are described as being about 5ft 9in and 5ft 11in tall, and were both wearing jeans, dark jackets and balaclavas."

The worker, who suffered minor injuries, was taken to hospital, and has since been released.

Police have asked that any witnesses or any with information to 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 207 of July 20. Information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
