18 year old Megan Lewis, who is currently studying at University, will live in Kenya for 14 weeks, working to combat HIV/AIDS, helping to improve access to clean water, improving the lives of young people, and helping to work on economic development at the grassroots level.

As part of her fundraising for her trip, she shall be completing the £5 food challenge next week.

Living below the line means that Megan shall be living off £1 a day, the same as the world’s poorest.

All fundraising will help the charity VSO that she is volunteering with, which allows such projects to continue, enabling young people to volunteer overseas and have a direct impact on improving somebody else’s life.

She hopes to raise awareness for the issues surrounding poverty, and cannot wait to help others in the summer on her trip.

Megan said: “Being part of a project is an incredible opportunity, not only will change the lives of the local Kenyan people, but mine as well.

“I also hope on my return to raise as much awareness about some of the issues that are going on, it is going to be amazing”.
