Guy Burridge, 54, of The Street, will be cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats on his month-long quest to support two charities which are close to his heart – Cancer Research UK and Philippine-based humanitarian cause, Virlanie.

Guy, a diving instructor who has lived in the Philippines for the past ten years but visits his home in Rustington every summer, said he was raising the money in memory of his father, Maurice, who died from prostate cancer a few years ago.

He began his ride on Monday and hopes to raise £2,000, which will be spilt between the two charities.

Guy said: “The route I’m taking is a little longer than the normal end-to-end route. But I want to make it a really relaxed ride. So I will be covering anything from 30 miles to 60 miles a day.”

He added: “I’m really looking forward to it. I cycle pretty much everywhere so hopefully I will complete it.”
