Rye Ahoy!

RYE celebrated its nautical heritage on fine style on Sunday when the annual Maritime Festival took place at Strand Quay.

Dozens of colourfully decorated boats took to the water and there was live jazz music on the quay-side as well as a performance by the Hastings Shanty Singers.

Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the RNLI and Maritime and Coastguard Agency as well as enjoying a barbecue and beer tent and sampling locally caught fish.

Attractions included a World War 2 mine laying vessel and historical divers and Rye Mayor Shaun Rogers joined in the fun.
