Now in its fifth year, the event showcases the work of established, award-winning and emerging artists, providing an opportunity to meet them first-hand and find out about their techniques and inspiration.

Since 2009, The School has been home to more than 30 artists, makers and organisations ranging from painters, sculptors and potters to textile and mosaic artists and photographers.

Highlights of The School’s Open Studios this year included a dedicated sale room offering a hugely varied selection of works from resident artists at affordable prices including works by Sarah Campbell, Nick Archer, Stephanie Rubin, Jenny Pockley, Angelika Howard, Beverley Thornley, Simon Young, Jenny Edbrooke, Paula MacArthur, Jillian Eldridge and more; an art room featuring the broad range of workshops and classes available at The School and a preview of the centre’s brand new print room.

It was preceded by a symposium on ‘Art & Science’ with guest speakers, including artist and researcher Rachel Cohen, who shared their perspectives and opened up forums for discussion.

Sally Lampitt, from the Creative Centre, said: “The open studios provided new commissions for the artists, which is great.
