The announcement came this week amid mounting anger over proposed cuts by East Sussex County Council which could result in many services being reduced or lost altogether.

Rye and District Community Transport has said that from April 2015, it will be running the 326 Rye Town service, which also goes out to Udimore and Broad Oak, without support from East Sussex County Council.

This service would, under County’s proposals currently out for consultation, have its running reduced to two days a week.

Rye Community Transport chairman John Izod said it was vital the service was maintained. He said: “We were clear right from the start of this process that even if County’s support funding was cut the services must carry on, and that it would be up to us to find the means to do that.”
