Rye charity takes up the reins

DISABLED people in the Rye area have been able to experience driving a horse and carriage after the local ARRCC charity joined forces with another charity.

The Woodchurch Driving Group, just over the border in Kent, has been providing regular sessions for ARRCC members.

Jean Boorman from the groups explained: “We are a small local charity offering Carriage Driving Experience to disabled adults some of who are wheelchair dependent.

“This enjoyable sport helps to improve co-ordination, balance and sense of well being, and in some cases greatly improves quality of life.

“In the wake of the Paralympics, where the competing Athletes have both amazed and inspired us.”

Irna Mortlock, from ARRCC said: “Members of ARRCC certainly enjoy their time at Woodchurch,and won a number of rosettes in competition.”
