Rye College '˜failing' GCSE results

It only had 37 per cent of pupils achieving five or more A*-C GCSEs including English and maths, missing the target of 40 per cent.
Claverham Community College got the highest percentage in Rother, excluding Bexhill, with 72 per cent.

Hide AdRobertsbridge Community College came in second with 66 per cent but Buckswood School were close to the government target with 45 per cent.
Rye Studio School got eight per cent of students getting five or more GCSEs.
Battle Abbey School did not provide any details of their results, possibly because their students do the new iGCSEs which are not included.

Hide AdDarvell School, Vinehall School, Frewen College and Headstart also did not supply their results.
Claverham was fourth in East Sussex for the percentage of students achieving the English Baccalaureate, with 46 per cent.
Robertsbridge had 26 per cent, Busckwood School got 21 per cent and Rye College had eight per cent – the second lowest in the county.
Claverham had the best percentage of students ‘making expected progress’ in English in East Sussex with 91 per cent.

Hide AdAnd Robertsbridge was top but for maths with 85 per cent showing progress.
