Rye Hospital News

The hospital celebrated its 90th anniversary last year, and what a range of fundraising events we had! With a fun quiz night, country house attic sale, a summer picnic, a jumble sale, a concert and plenty more, there was an event for everyone. To crown it all, the annual Golf Tournament, by kind courtesy of Rye Golf Club, and the Rye Show, held at Salts Farm by kind courtesy of Mr and Mrs Alan Catt, both raised record-breaking amounts for the hospital.

At the end of November a Service of Thanksgiving was held at St Thomas’s Church Winchelsea to celebrate and give thanks for the 90th anniversary of the Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital. It was a joyous occasion, with many people meeting up with past staff, friends and supporters of the hospital.

All these fundraising events were organised by either the hospital’s Fundraising Committee, or by other groups of volunteers or by individuals, whose only agenda is to raise money and thus try to ensure that there will be an NHS hospital on Rye Hill for another 90 years. Your support built the hospital, and it is now enabling it to continue to serve the local community to the highest standards, and to meet the changing healthcare needs of that community.

As well as a year-round programme of events, there are many generous people in the community who have supported the hospital in 2011, by regular giving or by single donations; every penny makes a difference, particularly in these difficult times of continuing financial uncertainty, so we are extremely grateful to you all.

So, as we start what will doubtless be another extremely challenging year, we say a huge Thank You to everyone who has supported the hospital in 2011, in so very many different ways, and wish you a very happy and healthy 2012.
