The purpose of the workshop is to bring together working groups to consider emerging issues and policies.

The idea behind the Neighbourhood Plan is to consult widely with local people to come up with a unified vision for what people want to see in Rye in future years.

It covers important issues such as planning and townscape and transport infrastructure.

Issues currently being looked at by the steering group include the supermarket deadlock and the possibility of getting a high speed rail link for Rye in the future.

The group is also looking at written feedback from the public given at the Rye Town Meeting in March.

Steering group vice chairman Colonel Anthony Kimber said: “The thrust of the comments continue to indicate issues surrounding the future of Gibbets Marsh, parking, traffic, the Tilling Green site and the supermarket situation.”
