Rye parking still an issue

Parking enforcement remains one of the top police priorities in Rye town centre say police .

Police raised this issue when they reported back to Rye Town Council’s public services committee recently.

Committee member Peter Hillier said: “We need a parking review as parking in Rye is a bit of a mess. A lot of residents in the town don’t understand parking and visitors certainly don’t.

“There are more double yellow lines coming and that is a good thing, but where will residents who lose their parking spaces go?”

Rye PCSO Sharon Eldridge said: “Parking is still a priority for us. It is taking up a lot of police time at the moment.”

PCSO Eldridge said that ongoing discusssions were taking place between police and Rother District Council with regards to the council taking over parking enforcement.
