Armed Forces Bikers (AFB), a charity who raise money to support serving and veteran members of the armed forces and their families, raised £900 at the Hastings Mayday event on Monday May 5.

The event saw Rye Neighbourhood Policing Team’s PCSO Andy Smith, with his trike nicknamed ‘Bilge Rat’, and his team set up a stall to raise money for the charity. The stall was possible, in part, following a donation of £250 earlier in the year from the Sussex Police Property Act fund.

PCSO Smith said: “The day was a huge success for my team and I with over £900 raised. This was made possible partly thanks to a £250 donation from Sussex Police which was used to buy a gazebo and other equipment that can be used all over the area.

“We raise money by the sale of charity merchandise and sponsored events around the UK. There are quite a few events we will be attending this summer including Armed Forces Day in Alexandra Park, Hastings on June 30.”
