Rye pupils meetMayor and let loose monsters

create some little yellow monsters for the Hospice’s annual fund raising event Yellow Day.

James Cornford, from the hospice, praised their efforts and commented: “the school really got stuck in. Over 300 little monsters were brought to life by the pupils, each with their own individual background stories.

“Kate, Brenda, Carol and Stacey of the St Michael’s Hospice Shop in Rye then kindly gave them a home.”

On Yellow Day itself (Friday 26) Mayor Shaun Rogers came along to the monsters new home to meet the monsters and their creators.

James Cornford continued: “Yellow Day is St Michael’s Hospices annual fund raising day based around the colour yellow .

“Schools and businesses across Rother held mufti days and other yellow based events, such as growing sunflowers, baking yellow cakes, pretty much anything you can think of that involves the colour yellow.

“The proceeds raised from this will go directly to St Michael’s Hospice to help raise the £5 million a year the organisation needs to help support those with life limiting illnesses.”

Along with the creation of little yellow monster Rye Community Primary School was one of many schools and organisations across Rother who held a mufti day, with each person donning some yellow clothes and donating £1.

The final figure is not known yet as donations are still coming in, but St MichaelsHospice would like to thanks all of those involved in Yellow Day events and for their continued support.
