Present to witness the event was Rotary Assistant District Governor Don Soppitt, who congratulated the club on its year of positive achievement which included a 13% rise in membership.

He said: “You obviously operate a healthy club which is well linked in to the local community and you are certainly not afraid of making courageous decisions when needed.

“Your use of the internet to publicise your work and your mix of informality with the formal as and when appropriate is to be commended.”

Colin Baker closed the evening with reference to future recruitment campaigns and club activities for the coming year, which he assured members will bring further progress for the Rye Club.
