as his theme these he listed as: Finding new members, Fun in Rotary, Funding of worthwhile projects and Future of the club.

Roger also suggested that the club consider ways to provide more support for widows of past Rotarians as sadly they were increasing in number and need.

Don Soppitt congratulated both members and Roger for a comprehensive run down of their aims and objectives and stated that the club was most probably ‘punching above its weight’ in achievements. He also reminded the club that new world International president Sakuji Tanaka the former chair of the Daika Company and president of the National Household Papers Distribution Association of Japan and vice president of the Yashio City Chamber of Commerce had taken ‘Peace Through Service’ as his theme for 2012/2013.

Sakuji considered that Rotary was one of the few non sectarian, non political organisations to assist world understanding and cooperation.

Through its partnership with Bill Gates and the Gates Foundation, Rotary had demonstrated its ability to get things done that others found difficult or impossible, as it had done with its polio eradication programme.

In closing the meeting Roger Evans thanked all present for the informative and entertaining session and said: “I look forward to a year of businesslike achievement in addition to a lot more Rotary fun”.
