Rye Scouts building takes shape

Work is now being carried out on the interior of the new building at the Grove in Rye.

Rye Scouts Group leader William Perfitt said: “We have progressed a long way with the new building but still need to raise funds.

The Scouts are holding a fund raising Fair in the grounds of the new building, next door to Rye Sports Centre.

It takes place on Saturday October 5 from 10am - 3pm.

People will have an opportunity to see how the building has progressed and there will be a barbecue and refreshments, a cake stall, tombola, a china smash, book stall and fun games.

First Rye Scouts is one of the oldest Scout troops in the movement.

Their old building became stranded in the middle of a busy car park when the Rye sports centre was built.
