Rye Sea Cadets host Training Weekend

RYE Sea Cadets held their first residential training weekend of the year at their Rock Channel headquarters over the bank holiday weekend.

A a number of cadets from both the junior and senior sections were taking part.

Activities included, rowing, camp building and fieldcraft skills, team games, British Heart Foundation Heartstart and St Johns Ambulance Young First Aid Awards. The cadets also enjoyed a very informative demonstration by Sussex Police.

The Officer in Charge of Rye Sea Cadets, Chief Petty Officer Steve Smith said: “This is what being in the cadet forces is all about, cadets learning new skills, gaining qualifications, and above all having fun.”

Rye Sea cadets take part in a variety of activities including, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, band, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing, navigation and chartwork, seamanship, marine engineering, first aid and the BTEC Level 2 diploma in public services amongst many other activities.

Rye Sea Cadets are now recruiting for juniors 10 – 12 years old on Fridays 1900 - 2100 and seniors 12 – 18 on Mondays and Fridays 1900 -2100.
