Rye to get super speed broadband

THE Rye area could soon get high speed broadband connection with East Sussex County Council receiving a £10.6 million Government grant.

The grant is towards the roll out of superfast broadband across the county. This will be added to £15 million of its reserves, giving a total of almost £26 million.

It is anticipated that County’s ‘preferred provider’ will match this figure.

County hopes to provide superfast broadband, with speeds of 100mbps, to everyone in East Sussex by 2017.

In order to draw down the Government funding County needs to submit a Broadband Delivery Plan which must demonstrate that there is sufficient demand for faster speeds.
