Safer Hastings Partnership bridesmaids for second year

Safer Hastings Partnership (SHP) has finished runner-up in the National Good Communication Awards for the second consecutive year.

The SHP's public reassurance work was praised at the annual ceremony, which rewards the public sector's efforts towards improving communication with residents.

GMTV News presenter Penny Smith announced the results at the black-tie ceremony held at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel.

The SHP was pipped to the first place in the main category by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.

But the judges did comment that in Hastings 'not only are residents feeling safer, but the wider perception of the town is also improving'.

The entry included SHP-TV, the partnership's website and media player as well as the partnership's bi-monthly supplements in the Observer and schools competitions.

Natalie Williams, SHP communications manager, said: "We are really pleased to have achieved the runner-up position in the main category for the second year running, and we're also delighted by the commendation for the website. We will keep building on all we've done so far to tackle the fear of crime, as well as crime itself."
